| Kevin Pretlove -I have been an ardent OMD fan since
I first saw them support Gary Numan at Southampton Gaumont way back in 1979.Something
about their music just clicked and from that day onwards I was hooked. Owing to a lack of
storage space at my house I have concentrated my collecting around recorded items rather
than expanding to Memorabelia etc,which I leave to Ian! My own personal collection currently stands at around 300 items and I am always looking to expand on this. Among my prized items is the Uncut La Femme picture disc. I met Ian on the way to an early Telegraph Trip and it was on this journey that the idea for a definitive Collectors Guide was conceived. Little did we appreciate how much work that this would entail but after nearly 3 years preparation the book was finally launched in November 1996 at the Liverpool Explodes gig. Our initial run of 50 copies sold out in February and to date we are two copies short of selling our 100th copy. HOT NEWS (As at 10/04/98) Compiled 1997 sold out. The new issue launched in March 1998 is already selling well, and is expected to sell out very soon. So don't miss out, check out the sample pages before it is too late !!! | Ian Hayter- Ever since hearing Enola
Gay in 1980 I've been hooked on the music of OMD. Those were the days when it was cool to
be into one of THE up and coming bands!! Being quite young in those days I didn't
buy all the records when they were released but have made up for that since with some very
serious record collecting. From early on I started to maintain a database of records and other merchandise I saw for sale and it was this that formed the basis of COMPILED. For many years I assumed I was the only one to have this thirst for OMD material but since collaborating on COMPILED I realise there are a lot more dedicated fans out there. Over the last few years it has been great to meet up with many of these fans and I hope to see many more at this year's get together in December. |
