 I had this crazy and mad idea, an idea that has not been seen before; interested? then please read on.

The OMD Fan gathering event for the 30th March 2002 has now been booked. The ticket cost will be £12.50, this is to cover the cost of the evening buffet/room hire etc.

So, now what is this all about? Well if you are an OMD fan and wish to celebrate the music of a band that has fed 3 decades, this is going to be the event for you. An evening of non stop OMD music; even our DJ, Stu is a long term fan who is a veteran at such events. The ticket cost include a full buffet.
At this stage we have no definite events planned for the afternoon, but some idea's have been put forward, more news when things are confirmed.. Other ideas for the evening have also been put forward, and again these are being worked on.

The hotel is located close to Manchester and is within 15 minutes from Manchester International Airport, the taxi should cost around £7.50. The Hotel room rate is £42.50 per room, this is a special rate and is regardless if the room is a Double/Twin or single. Paul Turner has offered to help sort out the hotel rooms, so please contact him if you are coming alone, but wish to find another fan to share with.  If you are coming from the M6, then the event is  only 20 minutes from the Knutsford Services junction. If coming along on the M56/60/62 then the hotel can be found within a 10 minute drive from the turn off. Those that are coming on public transport can get a train to Manchester Piccadilly and then a short tram ride, the same is for coach. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Metro/Tram/Bus/Coach station.
  IMPORTANT: This is purely an OMD Fan Gathering centered around an evening of OMD music. There are *no* plans for band members to make an appearance. We may schedule some fan-based events and activities for the Saturday, but nothing has been planned or arranged as yet.

For many years I have had a bit of a "hang up" about reaching the ripe old age of 40, in fact any one that knows me, will know that for many years this has been a problem. So, I can celebrate on the quite side and run away, or I could do something mad.. I have gone for the mad idea. How about a day when I have my 40th birthday party, and I marry Jane, my girlfriend? and on the same weekend or maybe even the same day, we get Lee my baby son christened. Now this alone would be crazy, but on the same day, and the same hotel, how about an OMD event for the fans? Yea, it's got to be done, its madness at the utter limit. So if you want to dance to OMD music, and meet many other fans that you may have seen on the forum pages etc, now will be your chance.
 This will be STRICTLY on a first come first served basis, so if you are game on for mad weekend, this has to be it. Partners are most welcome, even if they are not a OMD fan, any one is welcome to join in on my "Traditional" family party, so please do bring wives/husbands/girlfriends/boyfriends with you, they will be catered for. As this is the Easter Weekend, then treat your selves to a mini break...

Now if you are looking for things to do during the day, then there are many things for you to   do and see, a shopping center is with walking distance, along with many bars/pubs/bistro's : Manchester City center is also very close. If you wish to travel to Liverpool its only 45 minutes by car. If you are very desperate, then you can even come along to the wedding (not recommended ;-) A bar is located in the hotel, so you can have a drink with other fans.
