Hi All
I have been OMD fan for many years now. Some of my best days out were going to see them live. Over the years i have collected many live recordings of the band and would love to swap them with other fans.

I've been into OMD since I was at Liverpool University, between 1978 and 1981. That sounds as if I was there from the very beginning, but it wasn't really like that. My first memory of the band was seeing a poster advertising a gig in the Anfield Lounge at the Students' Union - not even the main hall, just a small beige sitting-room! I thought 'What a daft name for a band!' and went on my way. If I could live my life again, I would have gone- it's the only thing I'd change.
Still, the name stuck, I heard Electricity, liked it, then Messages, and I was hooked.
Thanks for all your hard work on this site.

WOW, I thought I was the only one still listening to OMD. I first got into OMD after hearing Joan Of Arc on the radio, back when I was 17, and have LOVED everything since. Listening to them always tugs at my heart and makes me wish I could jump back in time. I will forever kick myself that I missed them on the last tour they ever did :-(

HOW NOT TO MAKE IT IN THE POP WORLD
(THE DIARY OF AN ALMOST HAS BEEN)
ABOUT THE BOOK
Announcing a new book by tenor sax man JOHN BARROW who is one of the journeymen of pop music. In a playing career spanning more than twenty years he has played and recorded with world name artists and producers including:
BOY GEORGE / CULTURE CLUB / THE FUN BOY THREE / IGGY POP / MUSICAL YOUTH / THE SWINGING LAURELS / JERRY DAMMERS / LAUREL AITKEN / THE CLASH / RHODA DAKAR (THE SPECIALS) / CRAZYHEAD / THE BEAUTIFUL SOUTH / BANANARAMA.
He has appeared on top-flight television and radio shows and played live in fifteen countries.
This book catalogues exhilarating highs and desolate lows with humorous anecdotes. From a start playing funk in a covers band in the clubs of the 70s, to achieving chart status and Top of the Pops appearances.
Always on the periphery, never quite hitting the pay dirt, this is the tale of one mans quest for unlimited world-wide fame and fortune.

I have been fan since 1980 and enjoyed every minute of supporting this great band through thick and occasionally thin times.
There have been many hi-lites including meeting some nice people and attending some great concerts especially junk culture at the birmingham odeon and sugar tax at the nec and some things that will never be forgotten will always be with me thanks to neil taylor, paul browne and phil marsh.
The lads at telegraph magazine and compiled have produced some great publications to keep over the years
and organised some great events thanx and best wishes dean.

I got into OMD in late 1981 when i heard Electricity
on the radio. I went out & bought their vinyl issued
in the states which combined "OMD" album w/ tracks from
Organisation. I have every OMD on Cd, most on vinyl.
I'm a huge music lover and OMD ranks 3rd on my all time list of bands. I've seen them at least 4 (maybe 5?) times
in concert in the 80s. A ... shame they're defunct now.
Still love them! I would love visiting w/ other OMD fanatics!!

Got into OMD when i was in 6th grade (85/86). I was scanning my
sister's Star Hits mags for articles on The Cure, when i came
across a pic of Paul & Andy and the lyrics for So In Love.
Immediately taken by Paul's handsomeness.
i asked for, and got, every "tape" they had out available in my
area, and have been doing so ever since.
ALMOST got to see them in 88, when they opened for Depeche
Mode (my sis and i being Depeche fans, too) but our family
vacation prevented it. the Lord repayed me once we got to South
Carolina, and in their Record Mart music store i found the video
(VHS) for the Crush album. i begged my dad for it. he kept saying
"you can find that at home", but i disagreed...he got it for me, and
i have never seen it again in any other store.
they're definately different, and that's what i like.
Surrounded by idiots in high school who either liked Poison or
Whitesnake or AC/DC, the only other fans i had to share OMD's
music with are my sister and my Mother.
an in-joke my family had was when my mother started calling my
sister and i her "daughters of the Golden West" when my sis and i
moved to California.
